Chapter 1
Chapter 1 was all about the evolution and history of typography. It started thousands of years ago which is so interesting because it shows us how language started and evolved as humans did. It's interesting to see how it has developed and, now, we have such flexibility and freedom to develop any type we see fit. There is so much creativity that we are able to showcase through type. Learning the history of typography just made me wonder what we could possibly do next. Is there more we can figure out? How much bigger can the typographic world get?
Chapter 2
Chapter 2 discussed the basic anatomy and language of typography. In typography, it is very important to understand how the structure of a typeface is set up, and where all the terms "serif," "sans serif," etc. extend from. I actually didn't even know there was so much vocabulary that someone needed to know when it came to type. Things like ascender, descender, terminal, etc. were very interesting because I didn't even know there were words for them! Once I start learning more about these words, their meanings, and how they are very important within typography, I feel like I would get a better grasp on design and how to become a better graphic designer.
